I invite you into this most private of moments, as if you are in the second row of pews. The serenity of prayer is reflected in the colors in the foreground and the garments worn by the nuns.

On a vacation to Rome, our hotel was close to the famous 'Spanish Steps.' The church at the top of the steps was a respite from the heat and mid-day sun. Mass had already begun, when I came upon this scene of three of the six nuns kneeling. The light streaming in was spectacular and I was so taken by their white garments, that I quickly but reverently snapped only a few reference photos used to create this painting.
