Working from my reflected image in a mirror, I painted “Resolute” in the late 1970’s on the day I was washing clothes -- wearing a robe, the only article of mine not in the washer. I was in an abusive marriage and this painting evolved from a warm palette of colors into a work that caused me to see what I was feeling inside. This painting showed me it was time for a change. It reminds me of my inner strength and from where I emerged. It is displayed in my studio, a reminder to stay resolute to where I am now. Oil on canvas. 24 in. by 48 in. Collection the Artist. Only available as a print. |
